There’s been a notable shift in B.C.’s new home construction activity this year, with the numbers telling a clear story. Single-detached home registrations have dropped to 2,517—well below the five-year average of 4,146. Multi-unit registrations are also down, from 22,347 to 19,994. Metro Vancouver continues to account for the lion’s share of single-detached builds at 36.6%. As someone who’s spent over 25 years navigating real estate markets—both as an Associate Broker and as a former Property Officer—I keep a close eye on these trends. Understanding shifts like these is essential for making informed decisions, whether you’re considering buying, selling, or investing in the Shuswap region. With my background in financial analysis and property management, I’m always ready to help clients see how broader market movements might impact opportunities right here in Salmon Arm, Sorrento, and our neighbouring communities.
